Meditation:Master Your Mind

Meditation is the greatest tool and the most effective remedy to master your mind. It trains the mind to control all the mental processes. It converts your reaction to the situation into the response to the psychosomatic incidents.
While meditating, a person experiences the slow pace of the metabolism due to a decrease in oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide. The respiration rate becomes slower. There is a reduction in metabolic rate due to the control over the involuntary nervous system which one advances through meditation, It helps control the high blood pressure. There are highly effective techniques in meditation such as Antar Maun, Vipassana, Ajapa Japa, Trataka, Yog Nidra and Nad Brahma, to name a few, that can assist in reducing the lactate levels in our body and thus reducing blood pressure and all types of anxiety issues.
Medically, it is said that people suffering from anxiety, neuroses or tension have a high level of lactate compared to when they are calm and tranquil. Anxiety is the cause of many so-called bodily ailments, as well as innumerable mental disorders. Meditation is the effective method of treating many mental and psychological diseases and helps in building strong and focused mind, thus doing away with their root cause. There are many other forms of relaxing such as sleep, but in almost every form there is not much change in the metabolic rate. During sleep, the carbon dioxide level in the blood is higher, thus, not a very effective remedy for the long term.
Scientifically, during times of stress, danger, fear, guilt, the adrenal gland secrete adrenaline hormone, which prepares the body to resist forcibly or to run away. The body becomes more efficient as it increases the heart rate, increases the respiration rate, constraining the digestive functions for the energy to be used to face aggressive situations and events. Various meditation techniques have a good impact on the nervous system keeping the mind at a higher consciousness level.
In this modern world, human beings are living a very stressful, competitive and unbalanced lifestyle, and are mostly prepared for fight or flight moment. Situations such as fear of losing respect, fear of losing a job and money, upbringing of the kids, divorces and single parenting are very tough situations in life and they make an individual become moody, with fluctuating decision making and thinking, weird observations, lots of questions and speculative visions and a continued stage of dissatisfaction and unhappiness.
When an individual experience unwanted situation he begins to prepare for fight or flight reaction and such preparation is due to the nervous system and adrenal glands in our body as it is their purpose. The prolonged stimulation of the adrenal glands and the sympathetic system can lead to many ailments such as high blood pressure, diabetes, peptic and dual ulcers, coronary thrombosis, with other mental and physical diseases such as muscular twitches, backache, skin problems and so on.
Again the only way of responding to it, preventing and curing such ailments is to completely relax the whole body and calm the mind, i.e. meditation. Now is the time. Train your Mind and Master it.
