Meditation and Effects of Colors

Let’s get introduced to the colours again
Colours are energy and light. Technically speaking, it is visible because of the light reflection. We see different colours because there is a variety of wavelengths that make us see different colours.
Imagine a world without colours? It will be boring and lifeless. Colours play an important role in our life. It influences our mood and approach. “Most people are unaware of the profound effect colour has on their behaviour,” said Kenneth Fehrman, co-author of the book, Color: The Secret Influence.
Many scientific studies have confirmed that colours have a great effect on our body and mind. It is found that colours help us heal. Color therapy, also known as chromotherapy or light therapy, is a holistic style of healing that uses the spectrum of light and colour to change subject’s mood and mental health.
As per common man’s knowledge, light enters through our eyes, whereas light also enters our body through the skin. Unique vibrations and frequencies of each colour are believed to activate our body’s hormones, that control everything including our physical and mental health, it enables the body to heal. Different colours have a different effect on people’s mind, especially those who are disturbed or under stress. For example, to lower the blood pressure or temperature, it is advised to wear light colours especially white, green or blue. Have you noticed the hospital uniform for the patients is often blue or white? Whereas dark colours like red/ orange can have a reverse effect on temperature or blood pressure.
Every colour has multiple properties, most colours have both positive and negative properties, depends on how it is used to heal the problem. For example, Yellow and orange may be used to stimulate someone who is suffering from depression or green may be used to relax an emotionally unbalanced person.
Effect of Colors and Healing
The colour that is most close to nature is said to be purple. Whereas most people may believe, it is green. Everyone, however, will agree that Sun is the source of light, and it has a great effect on our life and environment. Ancient Indians explored this light and colour therapy based on the planets, thousands of years ago. It is then backed by the facts of experiments proving the effects of colours on human life. The concept of windows for fresh air, ventilation and light is ancient. Absences of light or gloomy rooms give very negative effect on health.
Our aura is made up of many layers of light that are used for balancing and cleansing. I know the colour of your aura, it will help you move to inner self faster, it helps you heal with stability.
Chakras
Chakra Meditation and Colors
Much importance is given to the colours when performing chakra meditation. Every chakra signifies the colour. The colour of root chakra is red, the first chakra, also known as Mooladhara chakra, symbolizes nourishment, survival, and safety. Here the red colour also represents soreness of the physical state. When we are worried about money and our survival then it leads to eating disorders, knee pain, and lower back pain.
The second chakra, Swadhisthana or the sacral chakra is related to our creativity, sexuality, and intuition. Sometimes we have issues connecting and interacting with people and it may lead to bladder issues, constipation, and muscle spasms. This chakra denotes Orange colour.
Manipura chakra is the third chakra denoted by the colour yellow, the colour of solar plexus and symbolizes mental activities, personal power, and will. Meditating at this point also brings in intellect in us.
The fourth Chakra is the heart region, known as Anahata chakra, and is of colour Green. This colour connects us with Love, compassion, integration, relations and new growth.
The fifth chakra is located in the throat, the Vishuddha Chakra, and denotes blue colour. Here this blue colour is represented by self-expression, expression of truth, communication, and sound. Whenever we hold back our expressions and cannot communicate our feelings then it may lead to hyperthyroid, skin irritations, ear infection, sore throat and inflammation.
The sixth Chakra is where the Third Eye is, The Ajna Chakra, represented by the colour Indigo. In this, we can see more clearly how our energy runs in our body. It also evokes intuition, inner wisdom, and perception. One can find true awareness in this deep indigo colour.
The seventh chakra, the crown chakra is centre connected with spirituality, enlightenment, and energy. We humans are constantly frustrated with no joy and happiness in life and accumulate destructive feelings too, and may suffer from a migraine and depression.
